Research Aide Opportunity - Cucumber Breeding Lab


The Grumet Lab is developing cucumber lines resistant to Phytophthora capsici,  a devastating disease that damages cucumber fruits and costs Michigan farmers millions of dollars of loss.     

We are looking for a hard-working student to assist in the greenhouse in a study on disease resistance in cucumber.

Duties will include:

Pollination – hand pollinate flowers for fruit production
Harvest – harvesting and preparing fruits for experiments
Inoculations – working with pathogen to evaluate resistance responses of different cucumber lines
Greenhouse and lab maintenance as needed
Date: 10-15 hours/week starting in September. Preferably 2-3 hours in the morning at least twice a week    

Wage: $9.25/hr
