Seasonal Landscaping Internship - Color Our World

Location: Mackinaw City, MI

The Village of Mackinaw City, located at the tip of Lower Michigan, hosts over 10,000 people a day during the summer season and is one of Michigan’s top tourist destinations.

The Village is currently in the process of creating a new Streetscape Project for the Village DDA District with award winning engineering-architectural firm Fleis & Vandernbrink. The initial phase will be implementation ready for the 2017 Summer Season. The Village is seeking a qualified individual to help design and execute the gardening aspect of Phase I but to also utilize what is presently available, in summary to Color Our World

Responsibilities will include:
• Assist in colorful flower and plant design
• Soil prep, planting and mulching
• Weeding, watering, mowing, trimming, pruning and general landscaping functions

Qualifications:
-Working toward and undergraduate degree in Landscaping, Horticulture or related field
-Excellent work ethic and ability to work alone if needed
-Knowledge of all types of plants and flowers, annual and perennial
-General knowledge of operating and maintaining small landscaping equipment
-Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, bend and stoop
-Flexible work schedule
-Must be able to work in all weather conditions
-Must have valid driver’s license, be able to pass drug screen and background check

Compensation:  $12.00 per hour

Shared Housing Available-One Block from Downtown District. $100 per month
