Henry Ford Estate – Fair Lane Seasonal Landscape Position
Henry Ford Estate-Fair Lane in Dearborn, Michigan is a National Historic Landmark built at the peak of Clara and Henry Ford’s lives in 1915. The Fair Lane grounds were designed by noted landscape architect, Jens Jensen. Today, Henry Ford Estate-Fair Lane is a non-profit organization undergoing a major transformative restoration process. While this is happening, landscape staff and volunteers are caring for the 17 acres of gardens and grounds that are open year-round for public enjoyment.
SEASONAL LANDSCAPE STAFF OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking seasonal employees to assist in all aspects of gardens and grounds restoration and maintenance in 2017.
Demonstrated interest and ability to work outdoors, independently and in a team environment.
Previous experience in landscaping or gardening a plus, but not required.
Ability to operate landscape equipment such as gas-powered push lawn mower and weed-whip.
Ability to exert force of up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally.
The position involves frequent working on knees.
Must be at least 18 years old with high school diploma by June 2017 or equivalent. This is an ideal seasonal job for a college student.
Work Schedule and Pay:
Seasonal, May-August (with potential for later start and end dates).
Pay of $10-12 / hour depending on experience.
Job has potential to fulfill an academic internship for those majoring in horticulture, environmental studies/sciences, landscape architecture, or other natural resources related field, if approval and oversight is obtained by the student from their academic institution.
