Missouri Botanical Garden’s 79 acres of splendid horticultural displays include the vibrant tropical rainforest that thrives inside the Climatron® conservatory. The Japanese Garden covers 14 acres, making it one of the largest Japanese strolling gardens in North America. More than 4,800 trees live on the grounds, including some unusual varieties and a few stately specimens dating back to the 19th century, when Garden founder Henry Shaw planted them. The Nursery accommodate plant propagation, plant production for indoor and outdoor use, research plants and special collections such as orchids, cacti and succulents, tropical plants and aquatics.
Horticulturist II – Nursery (Full-time)
Performs all duties associated with propagation, production and care of nursery crops and permanent plant collections housed at the nursery. Duties are directly related to acquisition, growth and production of the collections of woody and herbaceous plant material and annual display crops.
Horticulturist II – Conservatories (Full-time)
Performs all job duties associated with horticulture design, maintenance and care of the conservatory displays and collections. Conducts research to target plants for inclusion into the Garden’s conservatory living collections. Ensures that the living collections contain the highest levels of plant diversity to support conservation, research and education; Job duties are directly related to the design, installation and care of the collections, woody, tropical and herbaceous plant materials and annual display crops.
Horticulturist I – Nursery (Full-time)
Performs all duties associated with propagation and care of plants produced for addition to the living collections display, under glass, outdoors, and plants for the garden flower shows. Duties are directly related to acquisition, growth and production of the collections, woody and herbaceous plant material and annual display crops.
