Landscape Construction


The Landscape Construction Craftsman is responsible for the installation of hardscape and softscape projects as well as other miscellaneous projects as assigned. He/she will be responsible for layout (per design specification), coordination/collaboration with sub-contractors, ordering/delivering local materials, delegating tasks to crew workers, and managing and recording the project’s labor hours. This person will also be responsible for fulfilling various functions at the shop such as maintaining inventoried materials and ensuring scheduled machine/equipment maintenance is being completed.

Activities in a typical workweek (Include but are not limited to):

  1. Leading a crew of 1-3 persons through the completion of various landscape construction projects.

  2. Operating equipment including skid steer loaders, mini excavators, vibratory compactors, and other miscellaneous construction equipment.

  3. Ensuring all equipment has received weekly/daily maintenance and is being kept clean and safe,

  4. Recording and reporting labor hours/material use to supervisor.

  5. Maintaining inventory levels for bulk shop materials and other miscellaneous inventoried items.


  1. Associates degree in horticulture or industry-related field or at least 5 years progressively responsible construction leadership experience required.

  2. Proven experience building quality hardscapes and sophisticated planting arrangements.

  3. Demonstrated knowledge in the engineering/construction of segmental retaining walls, brick paver installation, and other hardscape components.

  4. At least two of the following certifications are required:

    1. LICT or LICM from the Professional Landscape Network

    2. Pesticide applicator’s license

    3. ICPI Paver Installer

    4. NCMA SRW Certification
