IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Scout

Wilbur-Ellis is seeking a student to work during the summer as an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) scout. The student would be responsible for conducting pest scouting on fruit crops in Leelanau, Grand Traverse, and Antrim Counties, and would work out of the Acme, MI branch.
Job Description and Duties
Scout designated orchards and vineyards for Wilbur-Ellis Customers. Conduct weekly visual monitoring for both insects and diseases. Also monitoring for beneficial insects.
Maintain insect traps in designated orchards and provide weekly trap counts to growers.
Monitor weather data and degree days to predict pest problems.
Provide weekly written scouting reports to growers and Wilbur-Ellis field representatives.
Must have a strong interest in agriculture and be willing to work outside.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to develop positive relationships with growers.
Must be self-motivated, honest, trustworthy, and always act in a mature and professional manner.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.
