Bird Creek Farm is a three year old 40 acre Certified Organic farm at the tip of the Thumb with and onsite farm-to-table restaurant and micro brewery.
We grown 28 acres of organic alflalfa, two acres of organic vegetables and use one hoophouse and one greenhouse for our business. We also raise about 1,000 broilers and keep 250 egg layers. In the past we have sold at Port Austin Farmer’s Market, Birmingham Farmer’s Market and to 25 CSA customers and a handful of high end restaurants in the Detroit Metro Area.
Last fall our wonderful farm couple moved back to Ohio, as they wanted to be by family for the birth of their first child.
The role of Farm Manager is a comprehensive job. Planning, Budgeting, Staffing, Planting, Weeding, Harvesting, Cleaning, Packing, Delivering and Accounting, using the organic practices taught at Roxbury Farm (the model developed by Jean-Paul Cortens in Kinderhook, NY), is what we expect the right person will accomplish. This opportunity will give the applicant full range to explore their ability to run a for-profit business at the highest level.
We are looking for someone enrolled in a professional program with some level of skill in the production of 50 varieties of veg along with the Chickens and Pigs, Raspberries, Strawberries, Garlic and Organic Corn in the larger plots on the property.
We have a finder’s fee program offering between $500 and $2500 depending on the skill level of the candidate.
