Sasha Ricaurte, Ph.D. Graduate Research Assistant

Sasha graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Minor in Anthropology. At the University of Florida, Sasha worked on commercial strawberry (Fragaria spp.) with Kevin Folta in the Department of Horticultural Sciences and the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. Currently, Sasha is pursuing an advanced degree at Michigan State University under the guidance of Amy Iezzoni and Curtis Wilkerson. Her project will investigate the biochemical basis of cytotoxicity in the S-RNase based system of self-incompatibility in sweet cherry (Prunus avium). Lastly, Sasha enjoys traveling, cooking, watching movies, and listening to live music.
