Orchard Floor Management
Investigating different grass species for orchard floor cover, their competitiveness with fruit trees and ability to support orchard traffic and suppress weed infestations. Evaluating herbicides, herbicide combinations and time of application for control of weeds in tree rows and alleyways.
Fruit Variety Evaluation
Determining performance of new selections and mutations under Michigan conditions. Evaluating for productivity, fruit size, time of maturity, color and finish, taste and tree characteristics.
Growth Regulators for Fruit Culture
Evaluating growth regulators to thin apple crop, regulate vegetative growth, affect fruit shape, control pre-harvest drop and affect fruit maturity.
General Fruit Culture
Fruit tree selection, planting systems, general culture and related issues, questions and concerns.
