CALL FOR PAPERS

Due August 1

All conference participants are encouraged to make a talk or present a poster. A paper or extended abstract for all talks and posters will be published in conference proceedings and distributed to all attendees.

Abstracts for talks and posters are required and will be included in the conference program. Abstracts should follow these guidelines:

  • Submit via e-mail as inline text, Word Perfect, or MS Word attachment
  • Include the title of the presentation, author(s), and affiliation(s)
  • Indicate presenting author in bold and include contact information
  • Use "CTRE Abstract" in the subject line
  • Indicate type of presentation: oral or poster
  • Word limit for abstracts is 400
  • E-mail abstracts to Dr. Dennis Fulbright at fulbrig1@msu.edu.
  • General conference questions: direct to Sandy Allen(517-355-5191 ext.1339)

When submitting the abstract, also include the following speaker information:

  • Name & title of speaker, organization, telephone number, fax number and e-mail address
  • Introductory/biographical information to be used by the conference moderator
  • Audio/visual equipment or other supplies needed
  • Any special requests

Due at the Conference

Talks

After all abstracts have been submitted, the conference agenda will be developed, published on this web site and e-mailed to all presenters. It is anticipated that presentations will be 25-30 minutes in length. Please allow 5 minutes within this period for questions.

Overhead and slide projectors will be available at the conference. A computer projection system will also be available for PowerPoint presentations, which should be brought on CD or Zip disks.

Papers and Extended Abstracts

Paper or extended abstracts of talks and posters can be submitted as Word Perfect or MS Word document files either 1) via e-mail prior to the conference to fulbrig1@msu.edu  or 2) at the conference on floppy diskette, CD or Zip disk. Papers and extended abstracts will not be edited but published as submitted. However, they may undergo some reformatting to assure uniformity within the proceedings.

Please follow these guidelines when preparing papers and extended abstracts:

  • 8½ x 11 inch pages with 1 inch margins, single-spaced, both margins justified
  • All fonts Times New Roman:
    • Title in 18 pt bold
    • 1st Level Headings: 14 pt bold, separate line, centered
    • 2nd Level Headings: 12 pt bold, underlined, separate line, left justified
    • 3rd Level Headings: 12 pt bold, beginning of paragraph, italics
    • Body of text: 12 pt, regular
  • Provide author affiliations as a footnote
  • Indent abstract margins an additional 0.75 inch
  • Place tables and figures in text as mentioned and number sequentially but separately
  • Cite literature with author and year (do not number)
  • The following manuscript may be used as a template:

Posters

Posters will be on display in the meeting room throughout the conference. There will also be a poster session to allow attendees time to discuss posters with their authors. In order to conserve wall space, please prepare posters in portrait orientation and do not exceed 48 inches tall by 36 inches wide (approximately 122 cm x 92 cm). Posters will be grouped according to categories and locations assigned accordingly. Adhesive will be provided to attach posters to the conference room walls.
