Ben Byl, M.S. Graduate Student

Ben is a Master's Student and Research Assistant focusing his work on asparagus trials in West Michigan and in the greenhouse. Before starting at MSU in January '11 Ben served in Peace Corps: Madagascar and began his own horticultural farm operation. He is a third generation fruit and vegetable farmer from the sandy shores of Lake Michigan where apples, cherries, and asparagus occupy most of his summers. Hisprofessional interests are principally on perennial food crops grown in light soils. Personal interests are wide ranging and generally scheduled after farm work is done.
