Tunnel Tour
MSU’s
“Berries and Cherries in British Tunnels”
Tour
October 5, 6,
7, & 8 - 2008
You don’t have to grow berries or cherries to
join this tour, anybody interested in tunnels is welcome, but bring work shoes
as we’ll be in tunnels most of the time. We’ll visit a medieval castle but other
than that, it’s all tunnels!
The British are way ahead of us when it comes to tunneled production so why not
learn from the best? See for yourself how tunneled production can improve your
bottom line.

Haygrove Farms (300 acres of tunnels) – raspberries, strawberries and cherries,
the latest
developments in tunnels and poly, tunnel management demos, the factory, berry
packing line, strawberry harvesting rigs, etc. We'll see additional crops at
other farms using tunnels, Reading University’s poly trials and Warwick Castle.
Graham Moore, Haygrove’s head grower, will accompany the tour.
Lodging
Hotels in
city centers are the small "black and whites", with
about 6 guest rooms, so we will stay at a mid-level hotel on the outskirts of
the city.
Dinner
The coach will transport the group to the city center for
dinner on your own. There are plenty of interesting dining options - fish 'n chips, British pubs,
Indian, Chinese, etc. The coach will make return trips to the hotel at two
different times and should anybody miss both, they can get a cab back to the
hotel.
Maximum Tour
Size
We can handle 70 persons max (2 coaches).
